Omitsu Koshi

**clap**clap**clap**

is there a japanese food bug around, or is it just me? i think it is just me ^^
i was browsing through xiu long bao's blog when i stumble into this. whoa... cheap japanese food never hurt anyone, dont they? dont get me wrong, jap food always give the impression of being expensive. so, when i found about this, the cheap soul inside me just started screaming 'go!go!go!'. So, off i go ^^

we decided to have dinner there. and when we arrive, it was almost full house. a full house is always a good sign of a good restaurant ;)

we got to sit here

a really cool place to have dinner. sitting down, sushi, green tea ;) so very japanese-y... gosh, i just quoted 1 utada hikaru's song that i cant stand @,@ dont get me wrong, i like her, but not so much when she went to america.
anyways... enough off topics...back to omitsu koshi. it sure is a good ambience in this place.

appetizer::california roll

i am usually amazed by japanese culture. so, japanese food just seems to come naturally to me. I am so fascinated by the way they respect their elders (at least that used to be the way during the samurai era). how loyal they are to their leader, to their very last breath. that is just so amazing. and i guess that influences how they treat their food too. with much respect and simplicity. for good samurai era books, find books written by eiji yoshikawa. he wrote a book on musashi (the greatest samurai who ever lived and pioneered the usage of double blade in a duel) and another book japanese shoguns (cant remember the title for this one).

beef teppanyaki set

mix tempura

pork curry set

sashimi zen set

pan fried onigiri

food here is good. n cheap. ambience is good. lots of families though. it's a good place to hang out with your friends. for couples, they do have couples arrangement seats. a little secluded from the other tables, but i cant say that it would be a romantic dinner there ;)
they serve alcohol here, too. ranging from japanese beers, asahi, sapporo beer etc. going for around 15-17RM per can. sake and shojhu too. do give those a try, if u can take alcohol.
all of the set here comes with fruits, pickles, bean sprout and miso soup. i like my sashimi set. they are nice and fresh, except for one piece of the white meat fish (what was its name?), it came out slightly colder and a bit hard in the middle, as if fresh from the fridge ;p beef teppanyaki set seemed to be chowed down pretty fast, no complaints from that department, so it should be good. pork curry is good too. and the mix tempura costs RM23, still a bargain. 4 piece of ebi tempura, a piece of fish, aubergine, sweet potato, and 2 more of the vegie family that i have problems naming ;p onigiri looks good too, it was chowed down in no time and not even an offer to taste it @,@
they dont charge for green tea. while xiu long bao gets free towels and chawan mushi, i only get free green tea. but, no complaints here ^^

ocha

nice cozy ambience...

aint this a good entrance or what?

this is going to get a little bit philosophical. so hang on for a little bit for the shocks on this ride. eating to me, is like consuming a part of one country's culture. despite how we consume the food. when u partake in one country's cuisine, u indulge in their culture and lifestyle.
so, japanese food to me, is about respecting ingredients and letting them speak for themselves. that is also how i have come to view japanese culture. respect.
