Khuntai, Revisited

After we had an amazing dinner, we came in again on the next day ^^ for more tomyamliciousness :) yay!!!
This time the post will be just about pics. So, feast your eyes ^^

simple restaurant, a hidden gem ^^

i dont know what this is, looks like some thai handcraft ;p

inside looking out :)

ung-mung omelette (i think ;p) i think the name speaks for itself

fish in thai sauce

their secret: charcoal to keep the food hot

the reason we keep on coming back :) seafood tomyam

a plate of vegie a day, keeps the doctor away ;p

this time, lunch came for 4 came at 64RM. still a bargain! with so many delicious food. you really cant argue on the price :)
btw, the fish is amazing. the thai sauce gives off sour taste. maybe it's tamarind? but, i'm definitely digging it! and the service? wow!! there's a waiter standing by near the table to make sure that the fish dish is not dry... so, he keeps on pouring in the sauce :) i'm totally hooked!!

Khuntai Restaurant

Finally got the will up to try out this restaurant. I usually frequent the mamak which is 2 shoplots away from this thai restaurant. And on each visit to that mamak, this restaurant was always crowded. So on this rainy evening, I managed to drag my 3 frens to try out this unfamiliar restaurant. After all, this is what floggers do, rite? :) and what could be a better remedy to a runny nose than hot piping tom yam soup? so, off we go...

hmm... will try to get better pics next time...

it looks like normal mamak stall. or perhaps ordinary taichow. I will try to get better pics next time. It's kinda hard to get good pics during rain and a runny nose ;p hope dat didnt spoil any mood... cos here comes the food pics ^^

...the foods...

there were only 4 of us. so, we order the prawn fritters, chicken in basket, a plate of veggie and the not to be missed, tomyam soup. the one and only reason i came here ;p they have quite an extensive menu ranging on seafood mostly, fish, sotong, prawns. and this is a halal restaurant. so, have no fear :) i will definitely come and try their fish next time. looks quite convincing enough ^^
food came pretty fast. we only waited around 10-15 minutes. but, once one arrive, the others arrive too almost at the same time. this is a good sign of a good dining experience :)

the verdict? i am definitely loving the tomyam soup. spicy enough to make you sweat, but not too spicy to make your tongue numb. filled with pieces of prawns, sotong and fish. it certainly is worth 18rm. and that is only the small portion.
the prawn fritters are prawns coated with batter filled with spices and then deep fried until they are crispy. yum... no need to use hands ;p they come with thai chili sauce that is spicy, sweet and sourish at the same time. simple and wonderful.
chicken in basket. pieces of chicken cooked with dried chilis and some other stuffs that i cant percieve due to poor lighting and slightly numbness of tongue ;p and afterwards topped with nuts. served on top of deep fried noodle that is shaped into a bowl.
the veggie. erm... i hope someone can tell me the name of the vegetable. i'm bad with vegetable names ;p it is cooked with garlic. kinda plain tasting if compared with the other dishes which are rich in fragrant.

all in all, it's a good dining experience. will definitely come back. and i will definitely get better pics next time. the bill today came at RM64 for 4 person including 4 orders of chinese tea ice and 1 pat poh herbal tea (which tasted like cincau syrup, but minus the cincau. is that how it is supposed to taste?) and that makes 4 happy and satisfied customer. even one of my colleague who didnt enjoy spicy food is found gorging at the tomyam ;)

until i revisit the place, this is the details of the restaurant.
